At Quail Springs Dental care in Oklahoma City, Invisalign®, often referred to as invisible braces, is a special orthodontic procedure that improves the health and appearance of crooked or gapped teeth. Invisalign® is a clear, removable aligner that straightens your teeth, without uncomfortable, metal braces. This dental treatment offered in our Oklahoma City office is completed by using computer-imaging technology to: 1) determine your unique tooth structure and 2) create a personal fit uniquely for you.
Teeth that are positioned incorrectly can lead to a variety of problems. For example, misaligned teeth are more prone to cavities, tooth decay, susceptible to periodontal disease, interfere with bite function, and wear out more quickly. They can also lead to typical discomfort and toothaches. Choosing Invisalign® to correct misaligned teeth can save you unnecessary pain down the road and money. Straighter teeth are easier to clean, brush, and floss, allowing for optimum oral hygiene. Find out if you are a candidate today!
The Invisalign® Process
Invisalign® treatment at Quail Springs Dental care in Oklahoma City requires a strict regimen to follow for success:
Step One: Impression for Invisalign® clear braces
To begin the process to a more beautiful smile, you will have a consultation with your dentist in our Oklahoma City office to be sure Invisalign® is the right treatment for you. If you are a candidate and Invisalign® is the agreed upon treatment plan, the first step will be impressions. You will bite down onto a tray creating impressions of your tooth structure. The dentist will use this mold, along with digital images and x-rays, to determine your treatment plan with Invisalign®. Your impressions will then be mailed to Invisalign®, along with the projected treatment plan discussed at the clinical exam. The plan will include how the dentists’ foresees your teeth moving during the straightening process and the tentative timeframe.
Step Two: Invisalign® Development
Once Invisalign® receives your impressions, a digital model will be produced first. This initial model includes no corrections made and is used as a guide. The Invisalign® specialist will review the unique tooth structure from every angle, measure the patient’s bite, and observe the arch of the teeth. The treatment plan will then be added to the digital image and progression will be shown, as well as the end result. There is some variation as to what will happen exactly once Invisalign® is in the mouth, compared to what happens on the screen. Invisalign® has become much more accurate and effective over the past several years. Afterwards, a series of clear aligners will be made for you; this incremental procedure is most commonly completed with a set of four aligners.
Step Three: Invisalign® Treatment Progression
Invisalign® will help correct overcrowded, gapped, or crooked teeth in time. The design of this technology is to be completed by wearing a series of various aligners. The progression takes place over a set of four aligners. Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks, depending on the individual’s plan. Little by little, the teeth are gently pushed in the direction set by the dentist in our Oklahoma City office. This slow progress leads to little or no discomfort for the patient. The third and fourth aligner can cause slight discomfort due to them being the final stages for repositioning the teeth. During progression, your dentist will track your progress. Occasionally during this time frame, refinements (adjustments) may need to be made. Many Invisalign® cases have one to two refinements. New impressions will be taken if necessary. They are then sent to Invisalign® and a new aligner will be created for you. Throughout progression, you will begin to see noticeable transformation of your teeth.

Advantages of Invisalign®
Invisalign® treatment at our Oklahoma City office is a very distinctive and special process. Research shows that the most effective way to correct teeth is by pushing them. Teeth cannot be pulled into alignment; rather, they are pushed. Invisalign®’s technology does just that. This is what makes Invisalign® revolutionary and a highly sought-after treatment. Another element that makes this treatment exceptional is that the aligners can be removed for cleaning, eating, and drinking. No more picking or scraping food or debris from brackets or wires found on metal braces. Invisalign® is a much more comfortable, natural choice in Cosmetic Dentistry. You’ll be smiling the entire course of treatment!
How Does Invisalign® Work?
Invisalign® has a unique science behind it. During progression time, you will wear four different aligners. The aligners slowly change. The shape of the aligner gradually changes and manipulates the teeth to reposition them into the desired outcome. During the fourth and final aligner, small ‘bumps’ or ‘nodules’ are added to the interior of the aligner. They are virtually invisible but can be felt when the aligner is placed on the teeth. The small nodules inside make this aligner the most form-fitting and snug on the teeth. This added element adjusts the teeth the most, again, using the pushing technique. This incremental treatment allows the teeth time to adapt to their new position, without causing pain or discomfort from abrupt movement. It is amazing how orthodontics harnesses the body’s natural ability to remodel its own tissue. The application of light, constant force can work wonders! Invisalign has a 70%+ success rate! That is a great reason to smile!
Invisalign® VS. Braces
- Invisalign® offers a much faster timeframe for results with weekly or biweekly aligners.
- Affordable: Invisalign® is easier on the wallet compared the typical metal braces.
- The aligners Invisalign® offers are much more comfortable for the patient. And comfort for any dental procedure is key. There are no sharp metal brackets or wires and no injuries involved from broken wires or brackets.
- Invisalign® is much more aesthetically pleasing than braces. The clear aligners are barely noticeable.
- Removable: the aligners are removable for times such as cleaning or eating. Braces are permanent until removed by an orthodontist.
- In the Oklahoma City area Invisalign® is covered by many insurance plans. Contact your provider to learn more.
- Invisalign® currently has 75% more predictable movement of the teeth than braces; it is proven to work!
- Office visits only occur every 4-6 weeks; braces can require more frequent visits.
